Fall fashion around the corner

Here we are in August already… Fall fashion is beginning to hit the stores. It is a sad time in the Sonoran desert though… Because we cannot take part in it! All I want to do is dress up in a sweater with a cute blazer over it… But I would die of heat stroke! It is still over 100degrees here! While a large part of the world is putting away their summer clothes and delighting in the fun fall fashion… We are still in bikini weather.

I would love to see some guys in corduroy and girls in wool skirts but it just ain’t gonna happen here until probably Nov or Dec… If that! To any fashion designer… Please remember us in the Sonoran desert and give us some fall fashion-feel without the layers of warmth. I will do my best to try to find some good  Fall inspiration and post them on our pinterest site http://pinterest.com/sonoranchic/fashion/

Until next time… Stay cool!

Chinese New Year 2012

Jan. 23rd is Chinese New Year! The year of the black dragon begins. If you are headed out to celebrate, wear RED! Not only will it bring you luck this year, but red is just an awesome color in the fashion world right now. Don’t forget you can always splash up your look a notch with the right accessory: check out this Michael Kors clutch.

Next fashion trend… smart clothing

It is high time that my bracelet could show my twitter feed or my underwear monitor my health… don’t you agree? My bra could easily support a heart-rate monitor and there is no reason why accessories couldn’t really make statement about you by showing your facebook newsfeed or twitter feed. My watch already carries a tiny USB drive… why not add a tiny screen?  How about a body-temp monitor scarf? Camera in my sunglasses? Google Latitude in shoes to track my path!? There are some clothing designers out there that are creating multi-functional clothing but it is not coming quick enough! If our phones can be a computer, camera, phone, etc… why does clothing/fashion just have to be clothing. It is time “smart clothing” becomes more mainstream!

So to any fashion designers out there looking for ideas… please email me because I have a thousand ideas of how to make clothing multi-functional  or make fashion “smart”! BUT please make it fashionable… no one wants to pay a lot of money for a “smart” article of clothing if it is ugly. I am clueless on why fashion has missed out of this tech-age… but there is still time.

Imagine this Vogue dress with your picasa or facebook photo album pics real-time! Updating as you upload… how sweet would that be?!

Labor Day Weekend

Well it is still hot in the Sonoran Desert even though it is Sept now! And we even have monsoon like weather too. The heat and humidity is really taking it’s toll on southwest fashion. Just look around. Everyone seems to be melting. Which brings us to our point on this Labor Day weekend… it is not what you wear -but how you wear it.

If you are living in America, thank a vet and stand up tall. Be proud! Stand up straight, shoulders back and you will look and feel better. All the men and women that have served this country deserve to be thanked by someone with their head held high and not a melting blob.

Stay cool.

Summer 2011 Fashion and Style

Sonoran Chic will post later on in the summer as well, but here in the desert it is already reaching into the 90degree weather and so we thought we would give you a type of swimsuit fashion before you rush out and get that 2011 suit!Flyaway backsWelcome to the “flyaway back”. The first time we saw this style on a suit was on a popular surfer beach in Australia and we wondered, why do we not see more of these around? It is the perfect suit (especially for those who might not want to show off a belly). You still get that sexy look but with a little more coverage!  This particular photo is from Reef Girls  www.reef.com

Spring 2011 Fashion trends

Well, we here at Sonoran Chic have taken some time and have found the Spring 2011 Fashion Trends… especially for the SouthWest. So for those of you living stylishly in the desert, this news is for you:

Studded Platform SandalCalvinKleinSpringDressStreets of Santa Fe: imagine you are strolling down the streets of Santa Fe, New Mexico… you see colorful dresses, lots of accessories, thick bracelets and bangles, maybe a little fringe? Think Native American style meets Indian Jones. Which brings us to style trend number two this spring…

Dolce&Gabbana Lace and LeatherAlexanderMcQueenSkullKnuckleDusterMotorcycle chic: but not your typical hard-core biker, more like rocker-rockabilly meets flamenco! Think lace and leather, pops of color among neutral jackets. Wedge shoes, heels with ankle-straps, and boots! We are intrigued by the knuckle duster clutch and perfect for this season’s fashion trend.

Happy New Year Sonoran Desert! Have some snow?

That is correct parts in central and even southern Arizona today got snow! Mt Lemmon near Tucson has reportedly seen 18inches of snow… but we will not believe until we see it. Unfortunately, due to the wet weather, the Mt Lemmon highway is closed. We just checked on the Ski Valley website and it still says closed. But if you want to check on the Mt Lemmon ski valley, call 520.576.1400 or the Pima County Road Conditions hotline and it will let you know if the road is open at least. 520.547.7510.

Sweater Dress Weather

It is finally cool enough to start calling it “sweater weather” in the Sonoran Desert. Which of course means the high is in the 60s/70s but the lows are getting into the 40s/50s. (remember to those of us living in the desert, that is cold!).  So I wanted to share with you some top sweaterdress pics from Victoria’s Secret… Enjoy!

Halloween Costume Trends for 2010

With Halloween around the corner, many boys and “ghouls” will be searching for that perfect costume idea online. Hopefully this insight will help.

For 2010, as I look into my crystal ball, I see many home-spun costumes. Many of which are decade related: a 1980’s girl with big hair and neon, a 1920’s flapper, a groovy 1960’s dude, etc. I also predict some avatar blue costumes running around. Of course there will be vampires vs werewolves…

So now the question is, do you decide to “run with thepack”? or do you trick or treat on the road less traveled and come up with your own original costume idea?

Feel free to email your Halloween costume picture to us and we will pick out the most fashion savvy of them all! *@SonoranChic.com

And remember be safe! Halloween in the desert can be wild!
